2002 World Champion Jumper SFG Mahogany Monarda
Owned and trained by Rick Gaeckle
Sunshine Farm and Garden, owned by Roxanne,
Jean and Bob Riggs, is home to Morgan Horses and Herb Gardens located
in SE lower Michigan. We have collected a herd of Morgan Horses during
the last 30 some years that reflects our love and admiration for a breed
of horse that has played an important part in our lives. We have owned
Morgans of many different bloodlines, but are especially interested in
the colorful horses within the breed including palominos, buckskins, cremellos,
grays, flaxens, sabinos, duns, and splash genes. These colors have existed
within the breed for generations in small numbers, and have been carefully
cultivated by a handful of Morgan breeders and owners over the years.
We also admire the historical Lippitt Morgan Horse, a family of related
Morgans that trace directly back to the original Justin Morgan Horse in
very few generations. They are lovely, lively, typey and correct Morgans
that definitely deserve preservation within the breed. Our small herd
of lippitt horse have been carefully over the past few years. We hope
to have a full Lippitt breeding program started soon.
We have chosen horses that combine the very best historical bloodlines,
beauty and trainability, traditional Morgan Horse conformation that doesn't
break down or become unsound, alert and forward moving horses with lots
of spirit and courage, long flowing manes and tails, nicely crested necks
that arch naturally, horses that are easy to keep and a pleasure to own.
Our horses have been shown in many disciplines including Morgan shows,
Halter, Harness, English Pleasure, Western Pleasure, Park, Reining, Dressage,
and Competitive Rides, both by amateurs and professionals. Our farm backs
up to a state park that has miles of trail riding which we enjoy very
much.
If you are looking to purchase a Morgan Horse, please look at our
sales list. There are some very nice horses waiting for you.

*ROAN AND FRAME OVERO MORGAN
HORSE PROJECT*
Roan Mission Statement
To try and locate any living True Roan colored Morgan horses
with the intent on saving the True Roan coat color in the
breed by leasing, buying, or just finding any True Roan
Morgan left in the breed. There is currently no test that
can be done on this coat color so we must rely on pictures
and following bloodlines if possible. All True Roans must
have a true roan parent.
Frame Overo Mission Statement
To try and verify more Morgans with this white pattern
by educating people about a simple hair test they can send
in to a lab, find out if the Morgan carries the gene, AND
to locate any Morgans that carry the gene and have been
tested - with the desire to lease, buy or enlighten owner
of horse. Horses may be minimally marked to carry this gene
and can be hard to identify.
If you have seen or own a Morgan horse with these rare
colorations, please email us the AMHA Registered name of
the horse, the current owner address and phone - with pictures
and send to sfgherbs@comcast.net
We would love to talk with you!
